The Job Becomes Who You Are.
Until It Breaks You.

In November 2022, I responded to a call involving a badly injured child. There was nothing I could do. I compartmentalized it the way we’re trained to — the way we have to — and moved to the next call. That’s how we survive the job.

But that call wasn’t the problem. It was just the one that cracked the container. The real problem was seventeen years of accumulated weight I had never once processed.

What followed was seven months off work. A diagnosis that didn’t fully capture what was happening. Three months in, staring at myself in the mirror, I realized I didn’t recognize the person looking back.

What I eventually understood was that it wasn’t acute stress disorder. It was burnout. Full, systemic, years-in-the-making burnout. And nobody had ever given me the language for it, the framework to see it coming, or the tools to work through it.

That experience became everything I now teach.

What I Bring to the Room

20+ YEARS FRONTLINE

Captain Firefighter Paramedic. Wildland. SWAT. Hazmat Tech. High Angle Rescue. Reserve Deputy Sheriff. Not theoretical — lived.

CONFERENCE SPEAKER

10+ years speaking. 25+ conferences. 10,000+ professionals trained. When I speak, rooms go quiet. People find me afterward.

HEALTH COACH

Functional Medicine Health Coach. The science behind burnout, not just the surface symptoms. Recovery that actually works.

What Turned It Around

Therapy. Journaling. Breathwork. Cold water immersion. And eventually — understanding the actual science of what had happened in my body. Realizing that what I was experiencing wasn’t weakness. It was what happens to a human being under sustained, unrelieved pressure for nearly two decades with no real recovery.

I built Burnout Decoded because nothing like it existed when I needed it. It’s everything I wish someone had handed me — the science, the framework, the tools, and the honest conversation about what recovery actually looks like.

I also host Medic on the Mic — a podcast for EMS and fire professionals having the real conversations the profession tends to avoid.
